Overview We’re seeking a Principal Data Engineer with 7‑10 years of industry experience working in high‑transaction, high‑volume e‑commerce environments to design and maintain data pipelines that connect our data warehouse with marketing and customer engagement platforms. This role focuses on building reliable integrations that enable customer segmentation, campaign execution, and feedback loops from engagement data back into our core systems. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the marketing and analytics teams have the right data at the right time. With your technical expertise and people skills, you will work to bring in architectural efficiencies, help identify and rectify areas of resource overuse, and introduce cost‑saving architectural changes.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Python and SQL to move data between the data warehouse and external platforms.
Automate data workflows to ensure accuracy, scalability, and timely delivery.
Implement bi‑directional data flows that feed customer and campaign data into engagement platforms and capture performance/behavior data back into internal systems.
Partner with marketing, analytics, and CRM teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure data quality and reliability.
Rapidly gain an understanding of the entire stack and be able to operationalize it, document processes, workflows, and schemas for knowledge sharing and long‑term maintainability.
Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy requirements.
Qualifications
7‑10 years of professional experience as a data engineer, ideally at high‑volume e‑commerce or transactional platforms.
Expert level in Python (data scripting, automation, API integrations).
Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data warehouses (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
Hands‑on experience with data integrations between internal systems and third‑party platforms.
Familiarity with APIs, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, AWS Glue).
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Experience in cloud computing and/or AWS services (3+ years).
BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
Location This is a fully remote position based in the US or Canada with a preference for Central and Eastern time zones.

Compensation Base pay ranges by location:
California: $134,750 – $190,750
Connecticut and New York: $134,750 – $174,750
Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Washington: $134,750 – $161,750
Nevada: $126,750 – $174,750
Maryland and New Jersey: $145,500 – $174,750
Hawaii: $126,750 – $142,250
