Overview
The Admissions Officer is a critical member of the Undergraduate Admission team dedicated to recruitment, admission, and matriculation of a talented and diverse undergraduate student body.
They assist with travel, present at recruiting events, counsel prospective students and families, build relationships, and represent Howard University positively.
Responsibilities
Advises applicants regarding admissions requirements and program options.
Serves as resource to students, parents, community stakeholders.
Builds, manages, sustains relationships with secondary schools, community organizations, alumni, and other constituents.
Keeps informed of program requirements, enrollment restrictions.
Regularly communicates with prospective students and families, school officials, community organizations.
Interprets and applies university policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Answers daily admissions inquiries orally, electronically, and virtually.
Assists in maintaining and updating admission records and files; compiles admissions reports.
Participates in special programs, research projects, enrollment strategies.
Updates job knowledge via educational opportunities and professional networks.
Conducts information sessions on- and off-campus, and virtually.
Participates in recruitment and yield events.
Engages in promotional activities such as counseling, meetings, fairs, panels, presentations, and newsletters.
Works evenings, weekends, and overnight travel as necessary; 60% travel throughout the year.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; must be conferred by start date.
Ability to travel locally and nationally to represent Howard University.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships.
Valid driver’s license.
Work Environment
In person, not eligible for hybrid or remote status.
Located on Howard University main campus.
40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday, weekends, and evenings as necessary.
Average of 60% travel throughout the year (peak times of September, October, November, March, April, May may be greater).
