Overview Sun Country Airlines is seeking a Senior Avionics Engineer to manage aircraft electrical system Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters and to coordinate new technology programs.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
Identify and assign all Engineering Task Cards/Authorizations for avionics and related system repairs and alterations.
Provide technical assistance for aircraft fleet upgrades and modifications.
Review and disposition avionics and aircraft electrical system Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and coordinate new technology programs.
Serve as the point of contact for vendors on technical issues and establish procedures for coordinating and resolving technical issues with vendors.
Coordinate with various departments to resolve and prevent aircraft electrical system deficiencies.
Review and improve maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, task cards, and service bulletins related to all avionics.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus ten years of related experience.
At least 5 years of airline experience.
Proven engineering, computer, and technical knowledge.
Excellent at articulating complex information to various audiences.
Exceptional mathematical skills.
Ability to apply principles of logic and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to obtain an MSP SIDA Badge.
Compensation $125,000.00 – $140,000.00 (base compensation hiring range).
Classification Full‑time, Exempt
Working Location Onsite, Minneapolis, MN
Supervisory Responsibility None
Work Environment This role operates in a professional office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands The physical demands include frequent talking or hearing, standing, walking, and using hands or fingers. Regularly lifting or moving objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds is required. The role also requires standing, walking, reaching, and using hands and arms, with occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
