Description
Provides legal advice to clients on complex matters related to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) 693 and CIP, TSA Cybersecurity, and general regulatory issues. Combines knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen, and knowledge of business goals and objectives.
Has significant experience and subject matter expertise. Position located in Columbus, OH, Indianapolis, IN or Washington DC.
Essential Functions
Resolves legal issues and provides proactive, business-savvy legal advice and counsel.
Manages complex matters related to FERC, MISO, NERC and TSA Cybersecurity.
Retains and supervises/manages outside counsel on select matters.
Anticipates internal/external business and regulatory issues and provides applicable legal advice.
Reviews and revises legal documents.
Negotiates with outside parties.
Assists in training clients on legal issues.
Communicates with clients regarding status updates.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.
Experience with independent case handling responsibility.
Exemplary personal and professional integrity and business ethics.

Ability to function autonomously.
Ability to balance legal issues with business goals through strong pragmatic business acumen.
Strong, logical legal mind capable of abstract concepts and timely decisions.

Licensed to practice law in at least one state in the U.S. and a member in good standing with the state bar.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
Experience in the utility industry or other regulated industry.
Experience at a regulatory agency, regional transmission organization, law firm or corporation.
Experience with the FERC, MISO, NERC, and/or TSA cybersecurity.
4-6 years of experience; typically at least 5+ years.
