About the Role
Scientists at Uber use data to measure, analyze, and optimize all of Uber's products. On the Consumer Experience Science team, you'll have the opportunity to work on the Uber App experience for millions of users. We drive growth for both the mobility business and delivery business by understanding how riders use the app, delivering a seamless experience, and creating new personalized features. The Science work we do is diverse and helps to drive every stage of product development. Our toolkit includes experimentation, product analytics, and ML modeling. You will collaborate with other scientists, product managers, and business teams to understand the challenges in our space, then tackle problems that no one else has solved yet. Some of the key projects will include optimizing the app experience, building targeting models for app experiences, and running large scale experiments to improve the UX. In this role, you'll have exposure to many of the teams within Uber and an opportunity to influence the strategy for a core pillar of Uber's business. What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points
Refine ambiguous questions and generate new hypotheses about the product through a deep understanding of data, our customers, and our business. Design experiments and interpret the results to draw detailed and impactful conclusions that inform our decisions. Define how our teams measure success by developing and tracking metrics Develop models to predict user app behavior and build personalized experiences. Collaborate with other Scientists and Engineers to build and improve data foundations. Present findings to business and executive audiences. Basic Qualifications
Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields. 3+ years of industry or academic experience as an Applied or Data Scientist or equivalent (with at least two of those years in industry). Experience in experimental design and analysis. Experience with exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis and testing, and model development. Proficiency in Python/R and SQL. Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent. Strong business and product sense: delight in shaping vague questions into well‑defined analyses and success metrics that drive business decisions. Experience collaborating with very senior stakeholders (Director+) and generating insights to shape strategy. Experience using statistical methodologies in a marketplace context. Experience guiding and mentoring other Data Scientists. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber’s bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
