Base Pay Range $95,400.00/yr - $208,300.00/yr
Department Summary Capital Programs is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, design and construction of capital improvement projects for the UCLA campus. Capital Programs staff develop financial strategies, undertake architectural design, conduct building department review of plans and specifications, carry out environmental reviews, and prepare and negotiate construction contracts and agreements, coordinate staging plans, and serve as a repository for project records and as‑built plans. Capital Programs is organized into two main operating departments, Capital Planning and Finance and Design and Construction.
Position Summary Project Managers coordinate architectural planning and deliver major capital improvement projects after architectural planning has been completed. The Project Manager has primary responsibility for major capital improvements and is accountable for achieving the established project scope of work within budget and on time for single or multiple projects with an aggregate value of $50‑$100 million in project costs. Additional responsibilities include liaison with the campus community, building end‑users, system‑wide administration and regulatory agencies. During the planning, design and documentation phases, the Project Manager orchestrates the efforts of outside design professionals (architects and engineers) and various consultants. During the bid‑award and construction phases, the Project Manager coordinates the efforts of prime construction contractors, construction managers, design professionals, and testing and inspection agencies in constructing the project.

Qualifications
Demonstrated professional experience at a similar level of complexity, including responsibility for multiple, major construction projects (Required)
Minimum of ten years' experience after graduation in progressively more responsible positions (Required)
Extensive experience with large‑scale ($20 million) multiphase projects or complex projects from concept through construction (Required)
Working knowledge of federal, state and local codes pertaining to design and construction, working knowledge of construction principles and regulations, Ability to prepare program descriptions, agreements, budgets and schedules (Required)
Ability to draft legal documents for review by counsel, ability to read and comprehend legal and technical documents (Required)
Ability to understand the requirement of funding agencies such as FEMA and the State of California, and to apply appropriate monitoring and reporting standards to ensure reimbursement (Required)
Skill in writing concise, logical and grammatically correct reports, skill in making effective oral presentations (Required)
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and diplomatic relations with widely diverse groups such as staff members, colleagues, clients, design professionals and other professional consultants, code enforcement agencies, contractors, and high‑level officials (Required)
Ability to interface with the academic community, work cooperatively with others in a non‑hierarchical, team‑oriented organization, organize, facilitate and expedite the work of others (Required)
Ability to apply applicable law, UC policy and campus policy to the execution of major capital improvement projects, avoid or resolve construction damage claims from contracted entities (Required)
Computer skills specifically relating to management of project budgets and schedules, ability to prioritize work by making critical and informed judgments (Required)
General higher education experience and/or healthcare experience (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in Architectural or Engineering Registration or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
