Job Description Summary The Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life works with the Director to enhance and improve student engagement and leadership at Miami University. The office is located in the Center for Student Engagement, Activities, and Leadership along with the Wilks Institute for Leadership and Service. The Associate Director supervises staff, advises student leaders, and oversees leadership programs while partnering with students, campus partners, alumni, faculty, staff and inter‑national organizations to improve the Miami University student experience.

Responsibilities

Coordinate student leader advising and management of the fraternity and sorority chapter services team.

Serve as a chapter services liaison, advising chapters, working with national headquarters staff and local chapter and housing corporation officers.

Supervise three Assistant Directors who provide direct advisement and support to the council presidents of the Panhellenic Association, the National Pan‑Hellenic Council, the Multicultural Greek Council and the Interfraternity Council.

Support the management of the Sorority Living Learning Community assignment process and the Interfraternity Council 2nd Year Housing Exemption process (in conjunction with Campus Services).

Assist the Director in marketing and communication efforts for the department.

Build relationships, develop resources and support local and national advisory groups.

Assist in the production, collection, and management of accurate membership records, recruitment statistics, and scholarship reports.

Maintain regular communication and collaborative relationships with constituents in the City of Oxford, the Division of Student Life and other university offices.

Provide leadership for the office in establishing and fulfilling its mission and strategic priorities, and in conducting daily operations and responsibilities.

Assist the Director with donor relations and stewardship initiatives.

Support and maintain office standards and policies.

Develop and provide oversight for office‑wide signature programs, workshops, and leadership retreats, including program and curriculum design as well as workshop facilitation.

Actively participate in Student Life and University Committees.

Other duties as assigned, provided they support the mission of the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Wilks Institute for Leadership and Service.

Other Opportunities / Responsibilities

Facilitation of national/international leadership programs, retreats and institutes.

Participation in the Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA).

Participation in the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV).

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel / Student Affairs or related field.

Three (3) to five (5) years professional experience in Student Activities and/or Fraternity and Sorority Life and/or working with an inter‑national headquarters staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.

Certifications in personal assessment instruments (e.g., Clifton Strengths, MBTI, Emotional Intelligence).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and effective application of collegiate leadership development theory.

Experience in fraternity and sorority advising, program/event planning, leadership development, alcohol education and/or hazing prevention.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of best practices and the ability to infuse research with practical experience to create intentional leadership programs for fraternity and sorority life.

Outstanding leadership, management and interpersonal skills to relate and work with faculty, students, parents, staff and community members.

Willingness to work in a team‑oriented and collaborative environment.

Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Familiarity with social media accounts and website maintenance.

Experience working on an inter‑national headquarters staff or as a volunteer for an inter‑national organization.
