Job Overview Lead a team of instrumentation and controls engineers in the technical design, procurement, planning, and coordination of nuclear and power generation plant projects, including Small Modular Reactors (SMR).
Key Responsibilities
Generate engineering design documents and deliverables for plant systems—logics, network architecture diagrams, instrument lists, I/O lists, instrument installation details, schematics, wiring drawings, calculations, studies, technical specifications, and more.
Lead and mentor teams of lower‑level engineers, reviewing and providing oversight on their work and assignments.
The Team The Instrumentation & Control department specializes in instrumentation, control systems, wireless communications, network security, and cybersecurity across all Black & Veatch market sectors.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous I&C design experience for large‑scale power plants.
Experience developing control system network architecture diagrams, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, control logic diagrams, P&IDs, and procurement specifications for I&C equipment.
Experience in instrumentation and process automation systems applications and selection.
Excellent writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Receptiveness to internal and external (client) feedback.
Willingness to learn processes and procedures specific to the power industry.
Flexibility in work hours as required by the client or project.
Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience. • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience. • Valid engineering registration or licensure as required for the project country. • Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screening, motor vehicle record search).
Certifications Hold an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer‑of‑record (EOR) requirements for Black & Veatch projects where applicable.
Work Environment and Schedule
Typical office environment; requires prolonged computer use and occasional site visits with physical tasks.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after 90 days based on manager discretion.
