Staff Accountant (Commercial Construction)
Fort Lauderdale, FL – onsite, 5 days/week
Responsibilities include:
Handle day-to-day project accounting for active jobs, including job setup, cost coding, and cost tracking.
Manage AP and AR for construction projects, including subcontractor invoices, progress billings, owner invoices, change orders, etc.
Reconcile job cost, general ledger, and project reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Support monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Work in Vista and Procore (or similar platforms) to keep financial data aligned with field operations.
Partner with project managers, superintendents, and leadership to answer job cost questions and provide timely financial information.
Help build and refine processes as the accounting team grows.
Qualifications include:
2-5 years of accounting experience with a general contractor and/or real estate developer (construction experience strongly preferred).
Hands‑on experience with construction accounting systems (Vista and Procore are a plus).
Solid understanding of job cost accounting, WIP, AP/AR, and project billing.
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with data and reconciliations.
Detail‑oriented, organized, and proactive; comfortable in a lean, growing environment where processes are still being refined and your voice matters.
