Nuclear Term Faculty – Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering

Virginia Commonwealth University – College of Engineering is inviting applications for a teaching‑focused, non‑tenure track appointment beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in Nuclear Engineering and core Mechanical Engineering courses, mentor students, and contribute to curriculum development and service activities. Position Responsibilities

Teach several nuclear‑engineering courses, including:

Introduction to Nuclear Engineering Radiation Detection and Measurement Nuclear Reactor Theory & Safety Nuclear Fuel Cycle Reactor and Systems Design

Teach core mechanical‑engineering courses, including:

Thermodynamics Fluid Mechanics Heat Transfer Engineering Mechanics (Statics/Dynamics)

Develop and update courses and laboratory exercises to align with ABET requirements and industry needs. Implement innovative pedagogy, including active learning, experiential learning, and computational tools. Advise and mentor undergraduate students in capstone projects and student organizations (ANS, WiN, ASME). Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities. Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Nuclear Engineering or a related field with expertise in both nuclear and mechanical engineering. Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Ability to work in an inclusive and respectful academic environment. Benefits

Salary: Commensurate with experience. Rank: Assistant Professor (non‑tenure track). FLSA Status: Exempt. Months: 9‑month appointment. Work arrangement: Hybrid. Application Process
