Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). MSTS’s mission is to provide high‑hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities, ensuring the security of the United States and its allies. The vision is to be the premier user site for large‑scale, high‑hazard national security experimentation below and above ground.

Responsibilities The Design Engineering Department seeks a Structural Engineer with proven experience in the design and analysis of non‑building structures such as industrial platforms, infrastructure, equipment foundations, and related civil/structural works.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete and structural steel systems for non‑building applications.
Design and detail concrete foundations, retaining systems, tanks, pits, and specialty industrial structures.
Prepare engineering calculations, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
Review and sign drawings, calculations, and design documents as the responsible engineer of record.
Collaborate with multi‑discipline engineers and contractors to ensure constructability and compliance with project requirements.
Conduct field inspections, site assessments, and provide engineering support during construction.
Ensure all work complies with applicable codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE, etc.).
Devise solutions to highly complex technical problems of broad scope.
Interpret and adapt guidelines for specific cases.
Evaluate processes, procedures, and work instructions to improve performance.
Conduct or lead research; develop and design new instrumentation, equipment, and procedures for testing and problem solving; keep management informed of important advances.
Ensure deliverables comply with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures.
Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering degrees
Or a calculus‑based STEM bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Or, for architects, certification from the National Council or Architectural Registration Board (NCARB).
Or a Professional Engineer license.
At least 9 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated technical specialization or cross‑disciplinary knowledge.
Ability to interpret codes and standards applicable to the position.
Primary work location: Losee Road facility, North Las Vegas, Nevada.
Work schedule: 4/10’s, Monday–Thursday (subject to change).
Pre‑placement physical examination, including drug screening, required; MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy.
Must be a U.S. citizen and hold a valid driver’s license.
