Job Summary: Responsible for dispatch and transport of blood and other specimens, assist laboratory staff with clerical and technical tasks related to patient care, perform CLIA waived laboratory testing, routine laboratory duties, and other assignments.
Responsibilities
Adhere to specimen collection, preservation, media, and storage requirements.
Proficiently receive specimens in the lab.
Follow accreditation standards, regulatory agency requirements, and institutional policies.
Ensure accurate patient identification using at least three unique identifiers.
Record and retrieve laboratory data accurately.
Ensure timely distribution of samples.
Track specimen flow effectively.
Meet reference lab specimen requirements, handling reception and processing.
Load and unload blood culture bottles; perform CLIA waived tests.
Assist customers, including answering phones and responding to inquiries.
Clean and maintain laboratory supplies and work area.
Assist with training and educating new employees and students.
Complete assigned goals.
Qualifications
Certification or degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, biological, or equivalent education and experience.
