Senior Project Engineer (V/VI) – Water/Wastewater

Gonzalez Companies is a partner‑managed firm providing comprehensive planning, design, and construction management services to water, sewer, and utility districts; departments of transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer (V/VI) – Water/Wastewater to help serve our clients and community.
Projected compensation: $100,000+.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and strategic oversight for complex water and wastewater projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
Review, approve, and guide engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Lead hydraulic modeling, system optimization, and design review to ensure efficient and code‑compliant water and wastewater systems.
Oversee field investigations, site assessments, and construction observation; provide expert guidance to project teams.
Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and proposals; ensure successful delivery of projects.
Coordinate and mentor multidisciplinary teams; establish design standards and best practices for the organization.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
Drive innovation, process improvements, and technical problem‑solving on large or high‑profile projects.
Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers; lead technical reviews and ensure adherence to quality control standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field; advanced degree preferred.
PE registration required; extensive experience leading water/wastewater projects.
8–15+ years of experience in design, permitting, and construction support of water/wastewater systems.
Expert proficiency with hydraulic modeling tools (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, SWMM, etc.).
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D; BIM/Revit experience preferred.
Deep expertise with pump systems, process equipment, site layout, and utility design.
Exceptional analytical, leadership, project management, and client communication skills.
Proven ability to lead large project teams, mentor staff, and manage complex, high‑profile projects successfully.
