Base pay range $50,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Overview The Production Manager is responsible for leading the technical planning, coordination, and execution of events from concept through completion. This role works closely with the Creative and Account Executive teams to translate client objectives into high-quality, flawlessly executed events. The Production Manager oversees all technical departments, manages crew, directs logistics, prepares documentation, and ensures operational excellence throughout the entire production lifecycle. The role also collaborates closely with the Director of Production to keep projects aligned and running smoothly.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in event production or technical production management.

Strong understanding of all aspects of the event industry: audio, lighting, video, rigging, scenic, staging, and power distribution systems.

Proficiency with Google Workspace, project management tools, and CAD software (Vectorworks or similar).

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.

Willingness to travel and work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required by event schedules.

Partner closely with the Creative and Account Executive teams to understand event goals, design intent, and client expectations as assigned by the Director of Production.

Fully support Account Executives in delivering events that meet scope, budget, and timeline requirements.

Collaborate with the Production team to maintain accurate and up-to-date production schedules and documentation.

Communicate regularly with the Director of Production regarding task progress, challenges, and workload.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage the full project lifecycle from initial planning through onsite execution and post-show wrap.

Lead all technical and logistical planning meetings.

Maintain alignment with timelines, budgets, and agreed-upon deliverables.

Serve as the primary internal point of contact for all production-related details.

Technical Planning

Create, collaborate, review, and update CAD drawings, technical plots, diagrams, and production documents.

Ensure documents accurately reflect event design, venue requirements, and safety standards.

Assemble and distribute comprehensive PDF show packets for internal teams and crew.

Staffing & Crew Management

Help maintain and develop new and existing freelance labor pool.

Develop staffing plans based on event requirements and budgets.

Schedule and confirm internal crew and external labor partners.

Coordinate freelance labor needs and schedules.

Lead onsite crew, including call times, task assignments, and daily workflow.

Conduct post-show evaluations and maintain crew performance tracking.

Gear, Prep & Warehouse Coordination

Create detailed pull sheets and equipment lists for warehouse teams.

Oversee gear preparation, equipment testing, case labeling, and pre-builds.

Manage logistics for cross-rentals, sub-rentals, and vendor equipment coordination.

Work with warehouse management on staging setups, pre-rigs, and efficient gear returns.

Transportation & Logistics

Build and manage transportation plans, including determining trucking needs (box trucks, semis, sprinters), scheduling loads and planning truck packs, routing and timing.

Coordinate heavy equipment rentals, rigging gear, and specialty tools.

Manage shipping deadlines, dock schedules, and venue access logistics.

Onsite Execution

Oversee all technical departments: audio, video, lighting, rigging, scenic, staging, broadcast, and power.

Ensure all onsite operations follow safety standards and established best practices.

Serve as an onsite decision-maker, communicating actively with Account Executives and clients.

Lead load-in, rehearsals, show run, and load-out with professionalism and efficiency.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate documentation throughout all phases of the project.

Track onsite changes for billing accuracy, including labor adjustments and gear modifications.

Complete all post-show requirements: crew ratings, logistics notes, summary reports, and improvement recommendations.

Budget & Resource Management

Manage production expenses related to labor, rentals, trucking, and equipment.

Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.

Build and maintain strong relationships with venues, rental houses, and third-party vendors.

Confirm venue requirements including rigging points, power availability, safety guidelines, and access restrictions.

Oversee all external rentals including lifts, lighting, video gear, generators, and specialty equipment.

Client-Facing Responsibilities

Join client prep calls with Account Executives when technical expertise is needed.

Collaborate on CAD drawings, production schedules, or technical solutions with the production team as needed.

Internal Improvements

Help refine and improve production workflows, documentation standards, and departmental processes.

Participate in team training sessions, post-show reviews, and ongoing departmental development.
