Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer III is responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical devices and systems. Conduct research to identify solutions to technical problems, develop prototypes using computer-aided design (CAD) software, and oversee the manufacturing or installation processes to ensure quality and safety standards are met. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize product performance, troubleshoot issues, and adhere to safety requirements.
Essential Functions
Experience designing and optimizing food-processing and ESL (Extended Shelf Life) equipment with a focus on sanitary design and regulatory compliance.
RB machine / explosion-proof design capability
Skilled in RB machine and industrial system design, including explosion-proof applications that meet safety standards.
Proficient in developing and optimizing pneumatic and hydraulic circuits for reliability and efficiency.
Strong background in enhancing existing machinery through continuous improvement and engineering upgrades.
Mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting
Experienced in diagnosing and resolving complex issues to minimize downtime and maintain performance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Technical Skills:
Proficiency in SolidWorks, 2D drafting, and troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Project Management:
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities independently. Industry Knowledge:
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, component selection, quality assurance, and control procedures. Soft Skills:
Excellent communication for vendor and team interactions; innovative problem‑solving abilities; ability to work with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Experience:
3–5 years in mechanical engineering, with a focus on automation. Industry Expertise:
Experience in RB, food, ESL, and XP machine design. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in document control systems (e.g., SmarTeam). Specialized Knowledge:
Background in filling, capping, or packaging industries is highly desirable.
Physical Demands
Work is performed largely in an office or climate-controlled warehouse environment. Some hours will be spent at various remote locations. Hours of work are generally during regular business. There will be some variation in work hours due to employee shift schedules, special projects, deadlines, customer needs and various other business concerns. Out of town and overnight travel, both local and international, is required for business and education, by air and/or auto.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds, as well as the ability to bend, kneel, walk or sit for extended periods of time. The ability to reach above head and below knees is also required.
