As a Power Market Sector Leader, you will partner with industry experts to deliver reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems while driving business growth and innovation.

Responsibilities

Focus on client management and development, serving as a client manager and project manager for future assignments with key clients.

Identify and develop project opportunities, act as a pursuit champion, and serve as a resource for HDR pursuits.

Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multi‑discipline projects or medium‑sized projects with high technical complexity.

Assess the area marketplace and determine the best business approach to win and secure contracts.

Coordinate cross‑sector business development efforts with other market sectors and business groups.

Serve as the Client Manager for selected key clients within the region and be active/visible in the industry.

Promote and deliver HDR services to clients while working with client managers.

Collaborate with Business Group Managers on market sector initiatives.

Drive client development and pursuit processes using proven capture techniques.

Support pursuits through relationship development, strategy, and participation in pursuit activities.

Engage in industry associations and act as a company role‑model in business and community organizations.

Identify key investments (acquisitions, technology) to maintain or drive HDR’s industry leadership.

Develop relationships with industry counterparts and senior leadership in key client organizations.

Enhance practices to win new work and provide staff growth opportunities.

Lead recruitment of prospective market sector employees.

Coordinate with the area to support work‑sharing among departments.

Collaborate with business class directors and practice groups to drive technical excellence.

Identify needs for new and improved technical services and products to maximize practice effectiveness.

Coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires with Market Sector Directors.

Identify resource gaps and support talent management.

Assist Area Business Group Managers in delivering services within the market sector.

Drive client management, monitor market sector P&L, ensure project delivery, and support QA/QC programs.

Facilitate cooperation, eliminate hurdles, and monitor market sector performance indicators.

Implement process improvements and leverage work‑sharing to exceed goals.

Manage contract review on key projects to ensure risk management, staffing, quality reviews, and resolution of claims.

Promote QA/QC and assist local programs with technical expertise.

Facilitate the development and dissemination of lessons learned.

Take on Project Management assignments suitable for this leadership role.

Citizenship Requirement Due to client contract requirements, U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status (Green Card holder) is required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, planning, or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years of industry experience.

Experience developing and managing strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.

Experience managing a wide range of client relationships and drives program or project pursuits.

Experience in staff development, including recruiting, career path, and professional growth.

Active participation in industry associations with a visible market sector profile.

Ability to work cooperatively with various HDR leadership groups (Regional Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, etc.).

Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and an active participant in employee‑owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineering registration (e.g., Licensed Professional Engineer).

California Professional Engineer license.

Master’s degree.

PMP certification.

Compensation and Benefits Expected compensation range: $161,000 – $241,000 (full‑time, full‑time, regular; depends on skills, experience, education, and location). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, employee assistance program, paid time off, parental leave, holiday pay, retirement savings plan with employer match, referral bonus, and tuition reimbursement.
