Mastech Digital
Senior Battery Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated
Senior Battery Engineer
with strong hands‑on experience in
solid‑state battery development ,
electrochemistry , and
thin‑film processes . This role focuses on
advancing next‑generation solid‑state Microbattery technologies , including material optimization, prototype fabrication, and cell‑level performance testing.
The engineer will work in a fast‑paced, collaborative R&D environment and will contribute directly to
developing ultra‑high‑performance solid‑state Microbatteries
for consumer, medical, industrial, and IoT applications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and optimize
solid‑state cell architectures , with emphasis on cathode materials and solid electrolyte interfaces.
Engineer and evaluate
anode‑free cell configurations , including deposition, interface stability, and electrochemical performance.
Integrate cathodes with solid electrolytes to improve cycle life, reliability, and rate capability.
Perform
hands‑on cell fabrication , including thin‑film electrolyte deposition, cathode layering, and full‑cell assembly.
Conduct cell‑level testing (cycling, EIS, impedance growth, DC polarization) and interpret data to pinpoint performance limitations.
Characterize electrochemical behavior using
EIS, CV, cyclic testing , and correlate results to material and interface properties.
Diagnose and troubleshoot cell failures through structured root‑cause analysis and propose corrective solutions.
Support
thin‑film deposition processes
(sputtering, ALD, evaporation) for electrolyte and electrode layers.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on cell design, prototyping, and process scale‑up.
Education & Experience
MS or PhD
in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related field
3+ years
directly related to
solid‑state batteries, electrochemistry, or cell development
Must Have Technical Skills
Hands‑on experience with
solid electrolytes
(LiPON, sulfides, garnets, or polymer‑based).
Strong knowledge of
thin‑film deposition
(sputtering required; ALD or evaporation a plus).
Experience in
solid‑state cell fabrication
and
prototyping
(electrolyte deposition, cathode integration, full‑cell assembly).
Proficient in
electrochemical testing
(EIS, cycling, impedance analysis, capacity fade diagnostics).
Ability to perform
failure analysis
and troubleshoot cell performance issues.
Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level
Employment Type Contract
Industries Manufacturing, Engineering Services, and Glass Product Manufacturing
