What you will be doing
The Director, BIKE HSS provides strategic and operational leadership for all components of BIKE HSS, focusing especially on corporate and community growth, fundraising, and mission visibility.
This position is responsible for expanding BIKE HSS beyond HSS walls—building brand awareness, forging corporate and community partnerships, and cultivating new audiences.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director sets strategy and manages staff and internal/external partners, and project manages across Development and all connected HSS departments. The position combines vision, discipline, and relationship-fluency to drive exponential growth by connecting participants, donors, and corporate partners to the HSS mission.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies for BIKE HSS growth, emphasizing external growth, partnerships, and mission visibility.
Translate BIKE HSS’ impact story into compelling narratives that resonate with corporate sponsors, global audiences, and the media.
Define success metrics and ensure accountability for goals and outcomes.
Within nine months, deliver a three-year strategic plan focused on revenue diversification, digital innovation and modernization of operations, workflows, and technologies to support growth.
Align BIKE HSS initiatives with HSS strategic direction and vision.
Recruit, mentor, inspire a high-performing BIKE HSS team committed to innovation and engagement.
Lead planning and execution of all logistics, operations, partnerships, vendors, consultants, and program elements using RACI frameworks and project management tools, establishing and monitoring timelines, deadlines, and holding stakeholders accountable.
Manage budgets, contracts, and vendor payments in collaboration with Finance and Legal.
Ensure continuity and quality across communications, digital platforms, and participant engagement.
Oversee multi-channel fundraising strategies—from peer-to-peer campaigns to corporate activations—that maximize revenue and visibility.
Build and steward relationships with riders/walkers/runners, donors, volunteers, physicians, and corporate partners.
Oversee the corporate sponsorship strategy and implementation.
Establish and implement a plan for grateful patient engagement, in collaboration with gift officers, physicians, administrative and clinical colleagues.
Establish and oversee a plan for physician engagement.
Oversee the content and user experience of the peer-to-peer fundraising platform at BikeHSS.org, ensuring it remains current and compelling.
Expand programming into a year-round initiative that connects BIKE HSS donors and participants to HSS mission to tangible breakthroughs in musculoskeletal medicine.
Manage the Director of BIKE HSS Corporate Sponsorships and Marketing, and Development Associate.
Drive a culture of creativity, accountability, and collaboration, both within the team and across HSS departments.
Strengthen cross-departmental collaboration within Development and across HSS.
Partner with communications to lead the rebranding of BIKE HSS and align messaging with institutional identity.
Oversee development and optimization of all collateral, outreach, and promotional materials.
Represent BIKE HSS internally and externally as a principal ambassador.
