Lead Legal Counsel – Supply Chain/Commercial Contracts
Join to apply for the Lead Legal Counsel – Supply Chain/Commercial Contracts role at Metrea.
Company Overview Metrea delivers effects‑as‑a‑service to national security partners across five domains and more than a dozen mission areas—including airborne ISR, electronic warfare, secure communications, aerial refueling, special mission aviation, aerial firefighting, and advanced simulation.
Wherever we operate, we build vertically integrated full stacks of capability—designing, building, and operating turnkey solutions that let customers scale capacity while benefiting from continuous cycles of innovation. With operators and engineers under one roof, we close the gap between lab and field—what we call connecting design with effect.
Metrea’s solutions are built for elegance: effective, efficient, and evolving. This approach enables our partners to do more with less and achieve outsized, asymmetric advantage against rapidly evolving threats.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, Metrea has facilities across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and beyond.
Position Summary Metrea seeks an experienced qualified attorney (Senior Counsel) to be principally based in either our California office in Temecula or in our Washington D.C. office with the expectation of travel and support of a global enterprise.
The candidate will have significant experience in aviation supply chain contracts and commercial contracts, including negotiation, drafting, and closing of vendor and other commercial contracts and subcontracts. This new role will build a Supply Chain and Commercial Contracts team over time, working closely with the Head of Supply Chain to identify legal and contract risks and support global operations.
Broad experience with aviation and commercial contracts, related intellectual property issues, and assessment of litigation risks is required. A general understanding of consultants and service providers, as well as potential labor and litigation issues, is beneficial. Experience supporting cutting‑edge technology companies—software development, digital innovation, and infrastructure—is important.
You’ll Do
Work with the Supply Chain and Global Logistics team and various Metrea Capability Areas, learning the work streams of the entire global enterprise.
Build out a legal team and work with the Head of Contracts on related personnel decisions.
Travel internationally and collaborate with team members, banks, lawyers, and government entities to address legal issues arising from a global enterprise.
Provide additional legal support in litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and various commercial transactions.
Engage in diverse legal projects that may extend beyond the core job description, fostering a well‑rounded, deeply experienced legal team.
Maintain a proactive, collaborative approach, supporting the enterprise through regular interaction with leaders and staff.
What You’ll Bring
Qualified licensed attorney with graduation from an ABA accredited law school, admitted to the bar in California, Washington D.C., or authorized to practice law in good standing.
Deep experience negotiating and drafting vendor contracts, supplier terms, codes of conduct, leases, and frameworks for ongoing negotiation.
Experience negotiating and drafting consultant agreements and related service agreements.
Aviation and defense experience.
Litigation assessment and risk analysis on a wide variety of contracts, including negotiation and resolution of claims and lawsuits.
Contract negotiation and enforcement across U.S. and foreign jurisdictions, supporting global enterprises.
