Responsibilities
Demonstrates technical proficiency in multiple aspects of heavy civil construction (bridge, highway, excavation, pipe, concrete or paving, grading, mechanical, and related disciplines).
Has a complete understanding of plans, specifications, estimates, man‑hour budgets, and production rates for assigned projects.
Plans and organizes work to maximize crew productivity, establishes work and staffing plans for each project phase, communicates performance expectations for productivity, quality, and safety, and monitors progress to meet schedule and financial goals.
Supervises field managers, plans manpower and equipment as needed, mentors field managers in leading crews, maximizes equipment utilization, and schedules personnel assignments.
Reviews job costs with the Project Manager and implements adjustments as needed.
Follows the Allan Myers Safety Program, including pre‑planning to identify hazards, proper use of personal protective equipment, and accident investigation and reporting.
Coordinates and collaborates with Field Managers, other Superintendents, and the customer to implement successful project plans while maintaining professional relationships with owners, engineers, and other construction team members.
Inspects construction work as necessary to ensure quality requirements and standards are met.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; equivalent work experience will be considered.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; continuing education in construction is highly desirable.
Minimum 3 years of heavy civil construction experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Experience in multiple trade disciplines preferred.
OSHA 30‑hour certification required (non‑certified candidates must certify or enroll within 6 months of hire).
Valid driver’s license required.
