About the Role We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead the Japan Sales Team at our Elk Grove Village office. This position is responsible for managing key Japanese corporate clients, developing new business opportunities, and supporting smooth coordination between sales and operations to ensure high-quality logistics and forwarding services.
Key Responsibilities 1. Account Management (80%)
Manage and strengthen relationships with major existing Japanese corporate clients.
Provide professional forwarding and logistics sales support to meet client needs and service expectations.
Maintain regular communication with customers to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement.
2. Business Development (10%)
Identify and develop new business opportunities in freight forwarding and logistics.
Expand services among existing and potential Japanese clients.
Build strong, trust-based relationships through proactive engagement and value-added solutions.
3. Branch Operations Support (10%)
Collaborate closely with the Chicago branch operations team to ensure smooth coordination between sales and operations.
Support initiatives aimed at acquiring new customers and enhancing service quality.
Provide leadership and guidance to local staff to maintain operational excellence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field.
Minimum
5–10 years of experience
in freight forwarding or international logistics sales.
Proven account management experience with Japanese corporate clients.
Strong knowledge of air and ocean freight operations and supply chain processes.
Excellent communication skills in
English and Japanese
(business level or higher).
Leadership experience managing small teams and coordinating cross-functional operations.
