Under general supervision, implement comprehensive Integrated Pest Management (IPM) procedures regarding the control of pest and the prevention of pest infestations in buildings and surrounding areas by mechanical, physical, or chemical treatment. Manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazards to people, property and the environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain regulatory-required licenses and certifications, including annual CEUs.
Follow specific directions per state law/label regarding chemical mixing and formulation.
Maintain accurate records for completion of work orders using electronic devices or paperwork.
Administer pest management techniques and plans to alleviate pest concerns (i.e., application of chemicals, setting traps, operating equipment, and modifying structures).
Locate, control, trap and repel pests, animals, and rodents.
Communicate with stakeholders and the IPM Coordinator concerning scheduling pest control treatments and/or maintenance repair needs.
Use of power tools required for drilling or cutting to access infestations, install physical barriers for treatment, and exclude infested areas.
Maintain accountability of tools, equipment, and supplies.
Report unresolved maintenance problems or issues to the direct supervisor.
Serve as point of contact for crew assignments and respond to requests for service in the absence of the Pest/IPM Supervisor.
Qualifications
Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency).
Must have a Texas Department of Agriculture/Structural Pest Control Service “Certified Applicator License” in the category of “Pest” and be current on state-required CEU credits; and 2 years of experience as a certified applicator.
Upon hiring applicant has 16 months to pass the structural pest control “termite” and “weed” exams.
Valid Texas Driver's License and a driving record that meets the District’s standard.
Must maintain a Texas Driver's License that meets Dallas ISD standards.
Must be able to pass the Dallas ISD random drug test.
Demonstrated knowledge of the types of pesticides used for pest control and IPM procedures as set forth by this district and SPCS/Texas State laws.
Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills related to Integrated Pest Management and IPM exclusion methods.
Demonstrated knowledge of tools and equipment related to the craft.
Demonstrated basic knowledge of computers and tablets for record-keeping and work order completion.
