Summary

The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) is the senior student services officer at the University. The VPSA provides vision, leadership, and management for the division of Student Affairs. As the chief advocate for the student body, the VPSA articulates the challenges that face ECU students to the President’s Cabinet. Responsibilities

Oversee the following units and initiatives: Student Engagement, Conduct, Career Services, Residence Life, Student Health & Counseling Services, Selected TRIO Programs Provide leadership through: Staff development, Budget management, Resource allocation, Strategic planning, Policy-making, Crisis response Stay current on best practices in Student Affairs and advise the campus community as needed Analyze current and future student programs and determine progress/viability Administer committees focused on health and overall well‑being of students Ensure compliance with the University and governing boards Create reports and communications Support student retention efforts Serve as a Title IX Investigator as needed Foster an environment that supports the holistic development of students through extracurricular programming and activities Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President Qualifications

Proven managerial and collegial leadership skills Excellent writing and communication skills Knowledge and experience in the latest innovations in Student Affairs Problem‑solving capabilities Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President Ability to assess Student Affairs programs and determine progress and viability of those programs Ability to relate to and work with students, faculty, and staff Ability and knowledge of Student Information Systems Understanding of Title IX Education and Experience

Required:

Earned doctorate in higher education, counseling, the social sciences, or a related field and a minimum of five years progressively successful administrative experience in Student Affairs supervision and budget development. Physical Demands
