About this position:
The Director of Organizational Development and Effectiveness provides strategic leadership to maximize organizational performance, strengthen culture, and develop talent in support of Lake Michigan Credit Union’s purpose — helping all members achieve dreams for a lifetime. This role leads enterprise initiatives focused on
change management, learning and development, organizational alignment,
and
engagement/listening strategies , ensuring employees are equipped, engaged, and aligned to business goals. The role combines strategic leadership with operational execution across leadership development, OD programs, talent strategies, and employee engagement initiatives.
Key Areas of Focus Change Management
Lead enterprise-wide change initiatives to ensure successful adoption and sustainment across all levels of the organization.
Partner with senior leaders to design strategies that promote transparency, readiness, and engagement during transitions.
Build change capability within leadership and teams by providing coaching, tools, and resources.
Leverage employee feedback, pulse surveys, and other listening channels to measure change effectiveness and refine approaches.
Learning & Development
Provide strategic direction for enterprise learning programs, leadership development, onboarding, mentoring, and competency-based initiatives.
Oversee design, delivery, and evaluation of programs for leaders, emerging leaders, and employees across all levels.
Apply adult learning principles and blended learning approaches (classroom, e‑learning, multi‑media) to optimize engagement and impact.
Collaborate with leaders to identify skills gaps, future capability needs, and integrate learning into broader talent strategies.
Champion innovative and fresh approaches to learning and development, moving beyond traditional classroom and virtual options to include experiential, social, and technology‑enabled learning strategies that drive engagement and organizational agility.
Organizational Alignment
Partner with leaders to ensure organizational structure, systems, and culture are aligned with strategic priorities.
Lead organizational assessments, OD initiatives, and performance improvement programs to enhance effectiveness, collaboration, and accountability.
Provide expert facilitation, coaching, and mentoring to leaders and teams on leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, and OD methodologies.
Engagement & Listening
Collaborate with HR to develop and execute an engagement and listening strategy, ensuring employee insights inform decision‑making, talent planning, and culture initiatives.
Leverage employee feedback, pulse surveys, and other listening channels to measure engagement and refine approaches.
Foster a culture of open communication, trust, and inclusion by ensuring employees feel heard and valued.
Additional Responsibilities
Manage company‑wide performance evaluation, assessment, and talent mapping processes.
Prepare and manage budgets to meet OD, learning, and engagement objectives.
Stay current on OD and talent development best practices and integrate into LMCU initiatives.
Actively support and model LMCU’s 3 C’s values through everyday behaviors, coaching, and collaboration.
What you’ll bring Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in OD, talent management, or learning and development, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Demonstrated expertise in change management, leadership development, organizational alignment, and employee engagement.
Strong facilitation, coaching, and consulting skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
Data‑driven, with experience using analytics to guide strategy and measure impact.
Experience in regulated environments preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
High emotional intelligence and ability to build trust across diverse teams.
Strategic thinker with strong planning, analytical, and conceptual skills.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and synthesize disparate information into actionable plans.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong facilitation and presentation abilities.
