Overview Relay Resources, an Equal Opportunity Employer, seeks a Senior Accountant – Hybrid to support its growing financial reporting and internal controls.

Job Summary As a Senior Accountant, you will perform complex accounting work to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for Relay Resources and its affiliates. You will be responsible for journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis, supporting month‑end close, audit, and tax processes. The role is hybrid – scheduled to work onsite 1–3 days per week, with flexibility based on business needs and team collaboration requirements.

Essential Functions

General Ledger & Close Process – Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, support schedules; maintain key balance sheet accounts; ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, year‑end closes in accordance with GAAP.

Financial Reporting & Analysis – Support preparation of monthly internal financial statements and management reports; assist in budget‑to‑actual variance analysis; prepare schedules and analyses for leadership and board reporting.

Fixed Assets & Lease Accounting – Maintain fixed asset subledger, capitalization, depreciation; record asset additions, disposals, transfers; maintain lease schedules in compliance with ASC 842.

Audit & Compliance Support – Prepare audit schedules and PBC documentation; respond to auditor inquiries; support internal control testing and compliance reviews.

Accounts Payable & Receivable Review – Collaborate with A/P and A/R teams for accuracy; support month‑end accruals, revenue recognition, and reconciliations; identify process gaps and propose improvements.

Process Improvement & System Support – Optimize NetSuite ERP processes; document accounting processes; identify automation or workflow improvements; contribute to internal training and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Experience: 5–7 years progressive accounting experience, including hands‑on responsibility for month‑end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting in a multi‑entity organization.

Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal control frameworks, and financial statement preparation; proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.

Analytical & Problem‑Solving: Ability to identify discrepancies, perform root‑cause analysis, and recommend process improvements.

Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to translate complex financial information for non‑finance audiences.

Organization & Time Management: Proven capacity to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.

Integrity & Accountability: High level of professional ethics, discretion, and judgment when handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

Active CPA license or progress toward CPA.

Background in nonprofit or affordable housing accounting (HUD, LIHTC, Section 8).

Experience with NetSuite, UKG, Yardi or similar ERP and HRIS platforms.

Prior experience preparing audit workpapers, supporting external auditors, and contributing to unmodified audit opinions.

Success implementing accounting process enhancements, automation, or ERP optimization.

Leadership and mentorship abilities to coach staff accountants and cross‑functional partners.
