We are seeking a highly qualified and accomplished Litigation Associate to join a distinguished practice focusing on
Insurance and Financial Services Litigation . The successful candidate will be instrumental in the defense of complex matters involving
life, disability, and long-term care insurance .
This role affords significant professional flexibility, offering a
fully remote
working arrangement with an optional
hybrid schedule
available for attorneys based in the greater Los Angeles area.
Core Responsibilities and Duties The Associate will assume critical responsibilities across the full litigation lifecycle, including, but not limited to:
Pleadings and Motion Practice:
Conceptualizing, researching, and drafting superior quality litigation documents, including responsive and initial pleadings, dispositive motions, complex briefs, and appellate submissions.
Case Assessment and Strategy:
Conducting thorough review, investigation, and objective assessment of the factual and legal merits pertaining to insurance claims and coverage disputes.
Discovery:
Preparing comprehensive discovery requests and responses, managing electronic discovery, drafting subpoenas, and overseeing compliance.
Oral Advocacy:
Taking and defending depositions of corporate representatives, parties, experts, and percipient witnesses.
Collaboration:
Working closely with senior partners and in-house counsel to develop robust case strategies and assist in all aspects of preparation for trial, arbitration, and formal administrative hearings.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Effectively managing communication with in-house clients, consulting and testifying experts, third-party administrators, and opposing counsel.
Qualifications and Requirements Candidates must meet the following prerequisites:
Experience:
A minimum of
two (2) to five (5) years
of demonstrated, substantive litigation experience, with prior exposure to life, disability, or long-term care insurance defense matters being highly advantageous.
Skill Set:
Exceptional proficiency in legal research, analytical reasoning, and legal writing is mandatory.
Professional Independence:
Proven ability to autonomously manage a substantial case workload, prioritize competing assignments, and consistently meet strict deadlines, while maintaining effective collaboration with the legal team.
Bar Admission:
Active membership in the State Bar of California is strongly preferred.
