Registered Nurse – Employee Health Nurse

Job Description
Conducts initial post‑offer/pre‑placement physical assessment, including review of immunization status and provides required testing or immunizations as needed. Follows up on any unusual findings with appropriate education, counseling, referrals, or work restrictions. Promotes health and safety of employees through health promotion and education.
Evaluates employee back‑to‑work clearance after illness or injury and either approves return or recommends further medical evaluation or extension of leave, as indicated by the medical provider or circumstances. Works with the employee’s supervisor to ensure that an employee needing work restrictions or limited duty is able to safely return to work when possible.
Assists in immunization and tuberculosis testing programs per BILH Infection Control Policy, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, CDC guidelines, and OSHA regulations.
Assists the Manager of Employee Health and Infection Control Specialist in following up employee exposures to blood‑borne pathogens, tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases per policy and regulatory guidelines.
Maintains accurate, current employee health records and daily treatment log, as required by BILH, federal and state regulations.
Assists in developing and revising guidelines, policies, and procedures related to the Employee Health Service.
Assists with the workers’ compensation program, including claims reporting and liaison with physicians and insurance carriers to provide appropriate care and facilitate return to work of injured employees.
Takes responsibility for professional development and continuing education to maintain knowledge of current trends and regulations in Employee Health and Occupational Health Nursing. Collaborates with employees, supervisors, other health care providers, and professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care and occupational health services.
Qualifications
Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
At least three years of experience as a medical or surgical staff nurse.
Certified Occupational Health Nurse preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Massachusetts Registered Nurse license (required).
Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse preferred.
Basic Life Support certification required.
Job involves possible exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues (OSHA exposure).
Compensation Hourly pay range:
$35.19 – $73.33
(base wage; may exceed based on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other applicable practices). Beth Israel Lahey Health requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
