Overview We are seeking a Licensed Civil or Structural Engineer with experience in natural gas pipeline design, construction, and maintenance projects. The role involves coordinating all phases of the integrity evaluation process, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and maintaining communication with stakeholders. Responsibilities include directing small to large projects, developing work scope, budget, and schedule, and coordinating input from various departments.

Responsibilities

Design, analyze, and oversee the construction and maintenance of natural gas pipelines and related infrastructure.

Gather data, perform calculations, and prepare designs to develop technically sound findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Follow up on implementation and assess accuracy and completeness.

Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for pipeline projects.

Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to execute projects on time and within budget.

Conduct site inspections, provide technical solutions, and address construction‑related challenges.

Prepare and review project documentation, including reports, permits, and regulatory filings.

Support the client’s team with risk assessments, feasibility studies, and design modifications.

Interpret state and federal codes, industry standards, and Gas Standards for clients.

Provide direction to contractors, consultants, technical specialists, and the project team.

Requirements

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Civil or Structural Engineering in the State of California (required).

B.S. in Engineering required; Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering desirable.

4–5+ years of experience in civil engineering, focusing on natural gas pipeline design and construction projects.

Strong understanding of pipeline engineering standards (e.g., ASME B31.8, DOT Regulations CFR 49 Parts 191‑192 and GO-112).

Proficiency in relevant software tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, or pipeline modeling tools.

Knowledge of finite element modeling of pipe stress (e.g., Caesar II) is highly desirable.

Knowledge of mechanical engineering practices, cost analysis, operating practices, and systematic problem‑solving approaches.

Familiarity with utility permitting, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance processes.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Coordinate activities of multiple concurrent projects, planning workload to meet priorities.

Proactive, effectively interacting with various departments to maintain open communication.

Salary $80,000 – $110,000 per year. Starting salary commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.

Work Environment / Physical Demands This position operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment. Physical demands include sitting or standing for up to 8 hours per day and moving freely for up to 8 hours per day. Reasonable accommodations may be made for employees with disabilities.
