Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and hands‑on Maintenance Engineer with strong expertise in automation, PLCs, electrical controls, mechanical systems, and high‑volume production environments. The ideal candidate will ensure equipment reliability, performance, and uptime while driving continuous improvement across automated systems. This role requires advanced troubleshooting ability, strong engineering fundamentals, and excellent communication skills to support fast‑paced production demands.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Reliability

Perform advanced troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment, including PLC‑based controls (Siemens & Allen‑Bradley), HMI systems, electrical panels, vision systems, drives, robotics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

Diagnose and resolve issues in industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, control Ethernet, switches, and distributed I/O.

Lead root cause analysis (RCA) of chronic equipment issues using 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Pareto, and structured problem‑solving tools.

Implement corrective and preventive actions to increase reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.

Monitor and improve key maintenance metrics

MTTR (Mean Time to Repair)

MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures)

Downtime analysis and reduction

OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)

Maintenance Strategy, CMMS & Documentation

Develop, optimize, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans for automated systems.

Use the CMMS to manage work orders, track failure history, assign tasks, and document activities.

Create detailed Work Instructions for technicians covering part replacements, calibrations, alignments, and troubleshooting tasks.

Manage and track spare parts inventory and budget, including lead times and critical spare identification.

Equipment Installation & Engineering

Support installation, integration, and startup of new production equipment including FAT/SAT, equipment commissioning, and multi‑ton crane lifts.

Design, modify, and validate electrical control systems (low and high voltage), motor wiring, automation panels, and safety circuits.

Perform mechanical design work and improvements using CAD tools.

Lead continuous improvement projects that incorporate new technologies, automation upgrades, and process optimizations.

Automation & Programming

Program, debug, and modify PLC logic using Siemens TIA Portal and Allen‑Bradley Studio 5000.

Develop or update HMI applications, including structured text, ladder logic, and function block sequences.

Configure and troubleshoot vision cameras, smart sensors, encoders, analog/digital I/O, and field devices.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Work closely with production, quality, engineering, safety, and suppliers to quickly resolve equipment issues and meet production targets.

Coordinate with global equipment vendors (European, American, Chinese) including remote troubleshooting and service.

Prioritize tasks effectively in a high‑pressure environment based on real‑time production needs.

General Responsibilities

Perform hands‑on sustaining work including cleaning, adjustments, mechanical repairs, calibrations, and system rebuilds.

Support mass production environments with high uptime expectations.

Ensure safety compliance, LOTO procedures, and adherence to electrical and equipment standards.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or equivalent.

5+ years of experience in maintenance, equipment engineering, or automation in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge in

MTTR, MTBF, Downtime reduction, OEE analysis

Siemens & Allen‑Bradley PLCs

HMI programming

Industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)

Electrical controls (high & low voltage)

Pneumatics, electromechanics, mechanical systems

Cameras and vision systems

Automation systems from International OEMs

Experience with dispensing systems, precision assemblies, robotic cells, or automated stations.

Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies.

Experience with heavy equipment installation, rigging, and multi‑ton crane operations.

Knowledge of OEE optimization, data analytics, and reliability engineering tools.

Ability to work 2nd shift and rotate shifts as required.

California Pay Range $130,000—$160,000 USD
