PERFORMANCE VALIDATION ENGINEER AMD is looking for a Performance Validation Engineer who is passionate about improving the performance of our next‑generation server products. The role requires a seasoned specialist who can lead sophisticated performance projects, communicate effectively across teams, and drive issues to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products.

Apply a data‑minded approach to target optimization efforts.

Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially regarding algorithms and architecture.

Participate in new ASIC and hardware bring‑ups.

Analyze benchmarks and performance characteristics of next‑generation AMD servers and AI accelerators.

Research trade‑offs for our server architecture, focusing on the memory hierarchy, storage systems, scheduling, and I/O devices.

Collect and analyze data from benchmark results, CPU performance counters, and other performance information to identify bottlenecks and performance limitations of the benchmark, SoC, and system.

Evaluate system performance by executing industry‑standard benchmarks.

Preferred Experience

In‑depth experience with Linux and performance analysis tools and methods.

Experience executing industry‑standard benchmarks or other performance test workloads (e.g., SPEC CPU 2017, HPL, DGEMM).

Test automation experience.

Highly motivated independent contributor with a strong desire to learn and develop a deep understanding of the technology.

Extensive knowledge of computer system architecture.

Programming/scripting skills (e.g., C/C++, Bash, Python).

Effective communication and problem‑solving skills.

Experience with PCIe testing and hardware validation.

Experience with I/O benchmarks and tools such as Infiniband, iPerf3, FIO.

Experience benchmarking memory technologies (DDR5, CXL, HBM).

Competitive analysis of server architectures and AI workloads.

Academic Credentials

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

Location and Employment Austin, TX. Hybrid onsite (3 days a week minimum) is required.
