Located in Belleville, Clara Maass Medical Center is a facility of RWJBarnabas Health providing a complete continuum of care to residents of northern New Jersey. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, the facility offers advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions, including centers for advanced wound care, sleep disorders, bariatrics, orthopedics, cardiac services, cancer care, emergency services, and more. The Medical Center completed a state‑of‑the‑art campus expansion in 2017 featuring a new four‑story 87,000 square foot building with a private 32‑bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area, and newly expanded Emergency Department. Requirements
A Master's Degree in Nursing and/or Nursing Education is required. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Critical Care specialty is required. Previous experience in Education or Staff Development is required. An active NJ RN license or compact license with NJ endorsement is required. Active BLS from the American Heart Association is required. CCRN or PCCN Certification is required. Certification in Nursing Professional Development is preferred. Scheduling Requirements
Full-Time Day Shift Monday – Friday, 40 Hours Per Week Essential Functions
The Critical Care Nurse Educator is a Registered Professional Nurse with expertise in Critical Care and ICU Step‑Down clinical settings and nursing professional development and education. Experience includes an in‑depth understanding and management of a wide scope of critically ill patients (Medical, Surgical or Neuro ICU). The Critical Care Nurse Educator must have an in‑depth understanding of the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice and the Association of Critical Care Nursing Standards. She/he is a member of the Nursing Leadership team and supports the Organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values and actively participates in shared governance. She/he is responsible and accountable for the development and application of Standards of Care and policies and procedures of Clara Maass Medical Center‑RWJBH to enhance the quality of care for patients and families. The primary function is educator, practitioner, consultant and change agent. She/he assesses data relevant to the learner’s progress and interprets the appropriate information to develop group and individual learning plans. The Critical Care Nurse Educator is a clinical expert who fosters the clinical development of staff she/he guides and assesses educational needs of staff on an ongoing basis, serving as a resource/coach for nursing staff, fellow educators, management, allied professional employees and other health care providers. In addition to the aforementioned skills, the Perioperative Nurse Educator must possess clinical experience, training and education aligned with their specialty practice area of focus. The Critical Care Nurse Educator will assist in onboarding, orientation and clinical practice evaluation of RNs and professional employees in the Critical Care and Step‑Down areas. The Nurse Educator will participate in the Nurse Residency Program. Qualified applicants need demonstrated clinical competency in the Critical Care environment consistent with the Association of Critical Care Nursing Standards of Practice. The Nurse Educator may assist in other departments as clinically requested by nursing leadership. Demonstrated teaching ability is required.
