Job Description Summary As an
Integration Engineer
on the PayPal Global Professional Services team, you will own the end‑to‑end technical relationship for an assigned portfolio of partner accounts. Your responsibility is to provide technical consultation and integration services for the implementation of PayPal’s payment, identity, and platform capabilities across commerce platforms. The role removes technical friction, accelerates time‑to‑revenue, and positions PayPal as a client’s trusted long‑term payments partner. You will lead other Integration Engineers during the integration phase of projects, using dynamic problem‑solving, critical thinking, and solid business acumen.
Essential Responsibilities
Recognize and articulate business requirements
Implement PayPal solutions while adhering to guidelines and company policies
Provide technical development and coding support
Guide clients through testing and pre‑launch activities
Relay constructive feedback to internal groups
Address specific customer business requirements or new product features
Ensure partners implement optimal integration strategies and user experience best practices
Assess and troubleshoot integration issues
Onboard new PayPal acquisitions into Application Security tools
Advocate security awareness and implement best‑practice security procedures
Expected Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Responsibilities and Preferred Qualifications
Qualify opportunities with Sales, mapping merchant business goals to PayPal’s product capabilities, and craft solution architectures, demos, and prototypes.
Run discovery workshops to develop requirements around PayPal’s ecommerce solutions.
Serve as a technical project lead from discovery to contract signature, through go‑live, building rollout plans, and coordinating internal engineering, product, risk, and servicing resources.
Establish best‑practice webhook and testing patterns to ensure resilient payment flows.
Act as a trusted advisor after go‑live, analyzing transaction data and payment KPIs to recommend new capabilities such as stablecoins, agentic commerce, network‑token updates, A/B routing, and APMs.
Drive technical health checks, roadmap sessions, and executive briefings to unlock solution expansion and additional merchant value.
Capture recurring merchant pain points, influence the product roadmap, and surface feature requests to product/engineering as the “voice of the customer.”
Build reusable assets, such as reference architectures, sample code, white‑papers, demos, etc., and evangelize PayPal’s solutions at internal events and partner conferences.
Mentor junior customer engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of pre‑sales and implementation playbooks.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance and computer science.
5+ years of experience/exposure to web and mobile technologies, APIs, GraphQL, REST, HTML/HTTP, iOS, Android, and leading web and mobile frameworks.
Proficiency in multiple major programming languages (C++, Objective-C, C#, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, .NET, PHP, Python).
5+ years of experience with payments (credit card, banking, online, offline), especially within ecommerce systems, payments gateways, and payment processors; highly valued.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to interact and adapt to communication styles with all levels of client organizations, including C‑level executives and technical staff.
Ability to translate requirements into detailed design and solution documents.
Strong troubleshooting skills and effective time management to work with multiple external customers concurrently.
Self‑starter who can quickly ramp up on new products and design custom solutions to accelerate partner onboarding.
Strong presentation skills for communicating with business units and technical teams.
Less than 10% domestic travel; international travel is not expected.
