Mechanical Application Development Engineer
Location: Nashua, New Hampshire | Employment type: Full‑time | Seniority level: Mid‑Senior

Position Overview The Mechanical Application Development Engineer will participate in the design and development of high‑speed custom cable assemblies that integrate into the customer’s system. The role involves technical project leadership, customer collaboration, and cross‑functional coordination to deliver cost‑effective, manufacturable solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead technical projects in design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electrical connectors and cable systems.
Work closely with customers and management to develop custom products that meet requirement specifications.
Translate customer and market requirements into product concepts using brainstorming, portfolio analysis, patents, and competitor research.
Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost‑effective, and meet functional and performance targets.
Provide support to Sales Engineering, Field Application Engineering, and Quality Engineering.
Maintain regular internal and external project status communication.
Plan and execute design verification, including calculations, simulations, finite element analysis, prototyping, and testing.
Develop and execute test plans for product qualification.
Conduct competitive analysis to maximize competitiveness in cost, performance, and manufacturability.
Manage product engineering/guardianship over the product lifecycle.
Assist manufacturing facilities with cost reduction, quality, and customer issue resolution.
Stay current on industry technological developments and protect intellectual property through patent applications.
Travel as required.
Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in product development or design (minimum).
BS in Mechanical Engineering (Electrical/Electronic Engineering accepted).
Experience designing high‑speed connectors, cable assemblies, and cable systems.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Analytical reasoning and problem‑solving ability.
