LifeSpice Ingredients, a fast‑growing, entrepreneurial, international food company, has an opening for an R&D Mass Spectrometry Technician with experience operating a Gas Chromatography‑Mass Spectrometer in our Chicago River North location. The office is steps away from the CTA Brown/Purple line and easily accessible from all parts of Chicagoland.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Design and execute food testing utilizing various analytical instruments including GC‑Mass Spectrometer.
Operate and maintain the lab where GC‑MS and other analytical equipment are located.
Communicate and educate co‑workers who do not have an analytical background.
Establish and maintain a library of reference spectra.
Make recommendations for new analytical methods and testing equipment.
Work as part of a team and think big picture.
Perform other analytical tests and support the R&D and Quality Departments as needed.
What we are looking for in a Candidate
Required knowledge and relevant working experience (hands‑on) with GC‑Mass Spectrometer.
Operate and obtain actionable data from GC‑MS testing.
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a focus in Analytical Testing.
Background and experience in food, flavor analysis is preferred.
Ability to create reports and communicate findings.
3+ years of hands‑on analytical experience.
