Responsibilities

Collaborate proactively with operations and other departments to resolve problems and improve production, quality, monomer utilization and energy consumption.

Document process studies and operational improvements, including plant trial information, research efforts and monthly process efficiency data.

Share responsibility for safety and equipment efficiency by responding to Safety Improvement Recommendations, implementing equipment monitoring, recommending PMs and maintaining safe operating procedures.

Handle projects delegated by the Monument Superintendent, including investigation, consultation, purchasing materials, completing Management of Change requirements, training personnel and developing operating procedures.

Originate ideas and support programs directed at improving product quality, unit safety and environmental performance, including leading and participating on Quality Improvement Teams.

Coordinate developmental projects in various operating units, working with the research group to define the project, modify the process, develop trial procedures, train operators and monitor safety and results 24 h per day.

Facilitate and/or participate on Process Hazard Analysis Studies (PHA’s) as directed by the PHA steering team.

Keep plant management and supervision advised of plant and product variables, project and program timetables, and other current items of interest.

Develop and follow operating procedures necessary to maintain the site’s ISO 9002 certification.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, with a strong preference for Chemical Engineering.

Effective verbal and written communication and influencing skills are necessary.

Strong preference for candidates who can communicate technical issues to operators and other plant personnel to assist in making safe and sound decisions.

Strong preference for candidates who lead by example, possess problem‑solving and teamwork skills, and can manage multiple changing priorities.
