The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the continued growth and operational excellence of IntelliShift. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, this position is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting while driving efficiency and consistency in accounting operations. The individual will be hands‑on in managing the month‑end close, maintaining reconciliations, supporting audits, and ensuring the integrity of revenue and expense accounting. The role partners closely with both the FP&A function (led by the Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A) and the broader Finance and Operations teams to ensure seamless alignment between accounting results and forecast performance.
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP
Ensure the timely and accurate closing of accounting periods in Sage Intacct
Reconcile key balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, deferred revenue, and accrued expenses
Perform variance analyses and assist FP&A in explaining differences between actual results and forecasts
Support consolidation and intercompany accounting, including elimination entries and reconciliations
Maintain documentation and schedules supporting audit readiness and management reporting
Audit and Compliance
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and interim reviews, ensuring all requests and schedules are completed accurately and on time
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for key accounts such as revenue, AR, AP, deferred revenue, and payroll accruals
Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls over financial reporting, particularly around revenue recognition, capitalization, and expense management
Revenue Recognition (ASC 606)
Assist the Senior Director of Finance in ensuring accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606, including multi-element and subscription-based arrangements
Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue balances monthly, ensuring alignment with billing and contract terms
Collaborate with Sales, CX, and Billing to ensure proper item setup, price book maintenance, and compliance with deal desk guidelines
Prepare supporting schedules for revenue reporting, including backlog, churn, and NRR
Cash Management, Accounts Payable, & Accounts Receivable
Own the accounts payable process, including vendor onboarding, invoice coding, approval workflows, and payment processing in Bill.com or similar systems
Manage employee T&E reimbursements and ensure compliance with expense policies
Support cash management and bank reconciliations, partnering with FP&A on cash forecasting
Oversee accounts receivable and collections follow-up to improve cash flow and reduce DSO
Assist with weekly cash flow reporting and variance analysis
Tax Compliance
Ensure compliance with multi-state tax requirements and nexus rules for sales and use taxes
Manage state sales tax filings and reporting through Avalara or equivalent integrations
Assist with income and franchise tax filings by coordinating with external tax advisors and preparing supporting schedules
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations relevant to the company's multi-state footprint
Budgeting and Forecasting Support
Collaborate with the Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A to align actuals with forecasts and budgets
Provide data integrity checks and reconciliations between the general ledger and forecast models
Support the preparation of departmental expense analyses and variance explanations
Participate in the annual budget process, ensuring accounting data feeds accurately into forecast assumptions
System Optimization and Process Improvements
Leverage Sage Intacct automation features and integrations (Salesforce, Genesis, Bill.com, Ramp, Versapay) to streamline data flows
Proactively identify and implement process improvements to shorten the close timeline and increase data accuracy
Assist in the rollout and documentation of new accounting workflows related to new products or pricing models
Contribute to system testing, training, and adoption as part of continuous finance system optimization initiatives
Collaboration and Communication
Serve as a liaison between Accounting, FP&A, and Operations to ensure accurate and timely sharing of financial data
Support financial reviews by providing clear documentation, reconciliations, and variance narratives
Assist the Senior Director and VP of Finance in preparing materials for management, audit, and board reporting
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within SaaS or technology industries
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606, and general ledger accounting principles
Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP; comfort with integrated systems (Salesforce, Bill.com, Ramp, Avalara)
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; team-oriented mindset
Demonstrated initiative in process improvement and automation
