Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing multi‑unit profitability, cost allocation, and the ability to match costs to specific projects. This role requires a detail‑oriented individual with excellent analytical skills and the ability to collaborate across departments to centralize cost accounting for our project‑based business.
Location & Compensation Onsite – Oak Brook, IL Headquarters Compensation: $80,000‑$90,000 plus full suite of benefits (healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k) match, etc)
Key Responsibilities
Compile, calculate, and distribute accurate monthly commission reports for all sales representatives, applying established commission structures, rates, and criteria to ensure timely and precise accounting.
Utilize and update the commission model to ensure accurate commission payments and reporting functions.
Ensure all commission accounting practices comply with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Analyze components of COGS and calculate gross profit to assess financial impact and support accurate reporting.
Assist in the development of processes for accurately tracking sales performance metrics and calculating the corresponding commission amounts.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business initiatives and provide financial insights.
Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Aid in the development and implementation of a centralized accounting function to streamline processes and improve efficiency across the organization.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements related to compensation.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting by standardizing accounting practices and procedures.
Participate in special projects and ad‑hoc analyses as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting degree preferred.
Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, with time spent in cost accounting specifically.
Experience supporting private equity‑backed companies or similar environments experiencing a high rate of change is desirable.
CPA certification is a plus.
Proficiency in Acumatica or a similar ERP is a plus.
Strong understanding of GAAP and compensation accounting principles.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
