Teledyne LeCroy R&D Team is looking for a

Principal

Hardware Design Engineer with 8‑15 years’ experience designing and architecting complex electronic products and subsystems that include precision analog circuitry, ADCs, DACs, high‑speed digital circuits (FPGAs, microcontrollers, power supplies). The role involves the full product development cycle from requirements to launch and mass production of high‑value instruments using state‑of‑the‑art technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Architecting and design of RF & Microwave assemblies, precision analog and mixed signal circuitry used in Probes and Acquisition systems of the next generations

Create documentation required for product planning and architecting.

Create schematic design and overviewing layout of complex high-frequency PCBs, ceramic and/or organic packages.

Design test fixtures and automated test routines to support testing of prototypes

Work within a team including Marketing, Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing engineers, to bring idea into shippable products.

Help supporting and reviewing changes to products throughout their life in operation.

Responsible for the release of the engineering design package to the production configuration management system

Education and Experience:

BSEE 10+ years of electronic design experience or MSEE 8+ years electronic design experience.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The ability to think logically, to learn quickly and the desire to learn new things are among the most important attributes for this position.

Must have the following requirements:

Knowledge of high-speed analog design, signal integrity, transmission lines, RF and microwave concepts is a must.

Ability to understand circuits in the frequency and time domain.

Excellent communication skills, ability to drive meetings, design reviews, and create content (drawings, slides, graphs) to explain complex systems or data.

Being able to train and mentor new engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of general electronic design including power supply design, microcontrollers, clocking design, transistor level design and PCBA technology.

Understanding of FPGA design, IC design and package design for ICs

Knowledge and understanding of issues with designing for high voltage applications.

Ability to work within and coordinate activities among a cross-disciplinary team including Mechanical, Software, QA, and Manufacturing Engineers

Use of test equipment, especially Digital Oscilloscopes and Network Analyzers. Measurement calibration and automation.

Design simulation analysis with Orcad, PSpice, Excel, Ansys tools, MATLAB or other software tools.

Python, VB or similar scripting capability for measurement automation and data analysis.

Ability to manage your own project or subsystem from a schedule and risk mitigation point of view, cost and materials perspective

Basic knowledge of digital signal processing theory.
