About the Role UC San Diego Health is a Magnet-designated organization. The role involves giving chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trials infusion, and other infusion‑related services, as well as blood work, dressing changes, injections in a fast‑paced outpatient infusion center setting. It also requires care of post Bone Marrow Transplant patients and the ability to respond to urgent medical emergencies.
Responsibilities Provide autonomous nursing care, assess and provide nursing actions appropriate for patient populations, practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, and exercise independent judgment within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary patient care approaches.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
Current California RN license.
BART or BLS at time of hire; commitment to obtain BART within six months.
Current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate & Provider Card.
Minimum one (1) year of recent (within last 6 months) oncology infusion center or acute care oncology experience; BMT experience highly preferred.
Proven independent thinking, decision‑making, problem‑solving, and prioritizing skills.
Ability to function in fast‑paced environment; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to staff and patients.
Preferred Qualifications
BSN.
Recent infusion center experience.
BMT experience.
Clinical Trials Infusion experience.
OCN certification.
Special Conditions
Work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
Work at least three (3) weekend days a month.
Float to Hillcrest Infusion if needed.
Selected candidates may be hired at CNIII level pending review and approval by Nurse Executive Council.
Compensation Annual Full Pay Range:
$131,335 - $184,078 (prorated if appointment percentage
Hourly Equivalent:
$62.90 - $88.16
Vaccination and Life‑support Requirements Compliance with University of California vaccination program policies required. Life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
