Job Description Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Women's Medicine Unit. This role will be Full‑time Night Shift: 3x12 hour shifts per week, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities

Provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination for patients.

Ensures safe, therapeutic, holistic care, incorporating patient/family‑centered approaches and respect for individual differences.

Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet patient and family needs across the care continuum, including education.

Communicates effectively and collaborates with healthcare team members, respecting other clinical disciplines.

Determines care delivery processes using patient communication, technology, and team collaboration.

Performs comprehensive health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets.

Develops individualized care plans based on patient assessments and population trends.

Delivers patient care in a patient and family‑centered manner.

Advocates for patient rights and provides counsel to resolve issues.

Accesses multidisciplinary resources for patient outcomes and coordinates transition planning.

Documents all patient care activities according to standards.

Evaluates care processes, anticipates patient variances, and revises care plans accordingly.

Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient data, and intuition.

Fosters effective communication and cooperation with clinical teams.

Assesses and measures patient education needs and outcomes.

Provides mentorship, guidance, and direction to staff, including preceptorship and delegation of care activities.

Ensures care delivery aligns with standards, guidelines, and collaborative processes.

Pursues professional development by obtaining continuing education.

Evaluates clinical and quality outcomes and contributes to performance improvement.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

Required 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Critical Care unit or completion of a critical care fellowship.

Education:

BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.

Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start. For Critical Care Units: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within 6 months. For Pediatric Units: Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months. For Infusion Center Units: Obtain chemo card within 3 months of hire.

Licensure:

Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi‑state Registered Nurse license.

Preferred Requirements

Two years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience on an inpatient med/surge unit.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Registered Nurse (RN) charge experience.
