Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Overview The Systems Engineers will own the architecture, integration, distribution lifecycle successes of avionics systems ranging from requirements management, development, certification, and entry into service. Joby Aviation’s flight research team is looking for a passionate Systems Engineering Engineer to join our growing team. This position provides the engineer a chance to interact with many of the key teams and disciplines within the company. The Systems Engineer will provide technical guidance and coordination across the autonomy systems, owning the architecture, integration, and lifecycle success of the autonomy system.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and certification of Avionics and lighting systems and sub‑systems

Ensure successful design validation and verification

Work with FAA Engineers and Joby DERs to ensure compliance with federal airworthiness regulations

Required

Solid understanding of aircraft systems, system development, and industry‑specific certification processes

Positive attitude towards the project

Strong work ethic

Ability to self‑manage and learn new skills

Forward thinking and the ability to adapt quickly to a fast‑paced environment

This position must meet US export control compliance requirements; therefore a candidate must qualify as a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15. “US Person” includes US Citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees.

Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $87,700 - $144,000/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
