The

Reliability (ACE) Engineer

provides asset maintenance, reliability, and outage scope guidance and is in charge of overall area asset care. They are the liaison between production and maintenance, engineering and third-party subject matter experts for plant reliability and increasing equipment availability and asset capacity utilization (or OEE). Lead Engineer within the Operations/Production Department and provides organization, planning, and direction for maintenance, reliability, production/capital improvements, and technical documentation for the assigned areas. Responsibilities & Duties

Ensures the principles of Asset Care Excellence (ACE), including the technical means for safe operation and compliance programs, are applied to all aspects of the work. Ensures/supports that adequate process related equipment maintenance systems and programs are in place and that such programs are operated in a safe and efficient manner and meet or exceed all regulatory requirements. Carries out pareto analyses of maintenance costs and/or repair frequencies and use existing analyses of OEE losses to identify bad actors and develop measures to improve or replace the assets. Leads or takes part in cross-functional teams, e.g. Reliability Centered Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis and Six Sigma Teams, Investigations, or Equipment Improvement Teams. Prepares and submits to the Operations Manager monthly reports summarizing the status of major maintenance and reliability activities and their on-going capital projects. Leads the Capital project input and budgeting process for the area of responsibility. Executes maintenance work orders – assuring work order quality metrics are met and that operators enter work orders in JDE for all non-optimal issues. Sets weekly/daily maintenance scheduling priorities and works to reduce emergency work orders. Leads and coordinates Root Cause Analysis investigations for all bad actors and significant reliability incidents. Responsible for follow-up – assignment and tracking of corrective actions. Manages all mechanical equipment maintenance not covered by the Mechanical Integrity program, including on-plant, workshop, inventory, clerical, and planning activities, and maintaining/improving documentation (e.g., specifications, equipment documentation). Coordinates plant changes, both equipment and facilities, requiring engineering input requested by Maintenance or Production or other departments, to improve OEE, yields, equipment reliability, and process quality. Ensures prompt and effective reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents by the Engineering and support staff. Takes part in or leads investigations (Root Cause Analyses) as appropriate. Improves/develops a reliability strategy aligned with business needs (ACE) to focus maintenance, turnaround, and capital spending on the most relevant equipment, moving toward a proactive approach. Identifies critical spare equipment and inventory parameters; enhances the Preventive Maintenance program (including condition-based maintenance); and develops asset preservation and rationalization plans. Serves as the champion for the Potential Business Interrupter (PBI) process, driving cross-functional collaboration to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks and ensure timely implementation of controls and continuous improvement in plant reliability and safety. Leads the Management of Change (MOC) process in a Process Safety Management (PSM) facility, overseeing cross-departmental reviews, risk assessments, and documentation to ensure operational changes comply with safety regulations and maintain plant integrity. Required Knowledge, Abilities & Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; and three to five years related experience as a Reliability Engineer in a chemical manufacturing facility and/or training. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and statistical techniques relevant to maintenance and reliability analysis. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of problems; comfortable with abstract and concrete variables. Preference given to an engineer who is working on or has obtained their Professional Engineers License. Preference given to an engineer who has experience in a PSM-regulated process and CMMS experience, particularly with JD Edwards. Work Environment & Physical Demands

Willingness to work in close proximity to chemical processes with toxic or caustic chemicals, airborne particles, fumes, dust, extreme heat and cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high pressure, high temperature, vibration, and electrical hazards. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including FR uniform, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, fall protection harnesses, chemical exposure suits in designated areas, and full-face respirator as necessary in emergencies. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Special Attention:

This position is safety and security sensitive in nature. This position deals with hazardous materials and/or industrial processes that can pose a risk to employees and the general public.
