Environmental Engineer

who enjoys both the technical challenge of solving complex environmental problems and the client-facing side of developing relationships and winning work? As a Senior Environmental Engineer with our Charlotte team, you will play a key role in managing complex projects, providing technical oversight, mentoring staff, and driving business opportunities in the local market. We have a strong backlog of work for the right individual to take the reigns and build upon the client relationships and project work we've already established. Your Day-to-Day

Lead Projects:

Manage all phases of projects, including scoping, budgeting, execution, reporting, and client communication.

Technical Oversight:

Provide expertise in a variety of projects, including but not limited to soil and groundwater remediation and design, vapor intrusion, mitigation system design/installation, contaminated site management, and emerging contaminant investigations (PFAS).

Field & Design Work:

Oversee field investigations (drilling, sampling, data collection) and prepare design recommendations for complex or unusual site conditions.

Mentorship:

Guide and support engineers, geologists, and technical staff, fostering career development and in-house training.

Business Development:

Leverage your local market knowledge and relationships to identify, pursue, and secure project opportunities. Collaborate with clients to build trust and expand S&ME's presence.

What You Bring

A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field

10+ years of professional environmental engineering experience

A Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license required

Strong project management and leadership skills

Excellent business development abilities, and existing client relationships in the local market are a plus

Proven experience with soil and groundwater remediation/design, vapor intrusion, soil gas investigations, contaminated sites, and/or mitigation systems is a plus
