General Summary The Golf Course Superintendent is an exempt position responsible for the maintenance, operations, and management of the golf course and its facilities. They oversee maintenance staff, exercise independent judgment daily, and ensure associates are developed.
Job Description In addition to general responsibilities, the Superintendent leads operations, finances, communication, and corporate objectives. Their role includes:
Primary Job Functions
Employee Management
Hire, train, supervise, develop, and terminate staff in accordance with company policies.
Conduct performance evaluations and compile reports.
Ensure compliance with employment laws, safety rules, and company procedures.
Process payroll for supervised associates.
Monitor uniform adherence.
Golf Course Facilities Management
Inspect golf course, facilities, and equipment during daily rounds.
Manage all facilities (course, equipment, vehicle fleet, clubhouse grounds, sod farm, nursery, open spaces).
Assist with inventory audits and loss control.
Oversee day‑to‑day operations with visible leadership.
Financial Accountability
Plan and forecast financial performance.
Implement action plans to meet or reduce budget goals.
Assist in annual operating and capital budgets.
Communication & Relationships
Interact professionally with senior management, staff, vendors, members, and guests.
Promote harmonious relations and uphold the club brand.
Participate in required events, programs, meetings, and trainings.
Respond promptly to communication.
Corporate Goals & Objectives
Advance safety goals and ensure compliance with policies.
Support continuous improvement and positive change.
Prioritize professional development.
Other Job Functions
Flexible work schedule (day, evening, weekend, holiday shifts).
Act as Club/Regional Manager on Duty as required.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
At least 5 years of management experience in golf course maintenance, including budgeting and systems implementation.
At least 3 years of personnel supervision, training, and evaluation.
Advanced knowledge of agronomy, turf management, and golf facility construction.
Strong understanding of golf, problem identification, and logical solution development.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws relevant to property management.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other required software.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to property locations.
May require pesticide applicator certification.
Demonstrated experience supporting a diverse environment.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Interaction with members, guests, and vendors in person, phone, and email.
Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to extreme heat, cold, wind, or wet weather.
Regular physical activity: bending, twisting, stooping, lifting, kneeling, and extended standing.
Adaptation to frequent environmental changes.
Compensation & Benefits Estimated Base Pay Range $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
