Research Biological Science Lab Technician (Animal) Summary There is no pay associated with this position. This role serves as a Without Compensation Research Biological Lab Technician within the Office of Research and Development (ORD). The VA Research Program seeks to promote veteran‑centered care to improve patient experiences and outcomes across VA healthcare and community settings, while advancing value‑driven care by providing veterans the highest quality care at the lowest financial burden.

Qualifications To qualify, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date (12/18/2025). Qualifications may be achieved through experience, education, or a combination of both.

Experience: Performing and assisting with laboratory experiments involving cell culture and staining of tissue selections.

Education: Accredited college or university degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics.

Combination: Applicants may combine education and experience to qualify for this level.

Volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) will receive credit as qualifying experience.

Physical Requirements: Predominantly sedentary work with occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying moderate‑weight items; hand‑and‑eye coordination for delicate testing procedures.

Duties

Assist with laboratory studies and data analysis.

Perform and assist with laboratory experiments including cell culture and staining of tissue selections.

Work schedule: intermittent (without compensation).
