Role Summary As our next Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager and as a member of the Integrated Platforms Hardware department, you will lead a team of 15+ Mechanical Engineers whose charter is to design, develop, test, and deploy mission critical weapon systems for the United States Navy and Air Force. You will work with leaders that are People Focused, have a One Team mentality and are Mission Driven. This position is for Richardson, TX.
Responsibilities
Conduct project leadership over the entire life cycle including bids, project management, design, requirements capture, integration, verification, and certification
Provide technical leadership and accountability for team and performance on projects
Drive team solutions for mechanical architectures, design, analysis (structural, thermal, mass properties, and environmental), and requirement development for systems of varying complexity
Manage hiring plans and staffing support for several programs supported in the business unit
Guide team members on scope, schedule, and budget management of mechanical engineering activities; use Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
Lead, review, and provide guidance to team members on bid and proposal activities for pursuits
Coach and mentor team members, recruiting, retaining, and developing engineering talent across the spectrum of experience
Build and leverage networks within the department and across Raytheon Technologies
Communicate effectively with Engineering, Program Management, internal leadership, and customers
Spend 50% of the week on technical tasks and project coaching; the remaining time on people management, staffing, and career development
Monitor industry developments to adopt new technologies into products

Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration: Enhance collaboration skills by working within integrated agile release train teams, coordinating with Electrical, Systems, Software, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery
Advanced Systems Integration: Gain experience with integrating complex Systems of Systems, working with multi‑enclave network systems, cutting‑edge mission processing systems, and communication systems (VLF, HF, V/UHF, SATCOM)
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a STEM degree with minimum 10 years relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 7 years, or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance required prior to start date
U.S. citizenship required
Hands‑on experience in Electronics Packaging Mechanical Design
Experience with Military electronic communication equipment design and qualification to RTCA DO‑160/MIL‑STD‑810 requirements
Qualifications We Prefer
Prior management experience of a technical team and proven experience working in a cross‑functional environment interfacing with Systems, Electrical, Test, and Software Engineering.
Practical experience in all phases of Mechanical Engineering product development: pursuit, design, new product introduction (NPI), qualification, integration, and production support
Exposure to airframe/air‑system modification, integration, and/or airworthiness certification
Hands‑on experience in aircraft resident systems modifications (structural, cooling, electrical)
Platform design and aircraft modification on large, fixed‑wing aircraft
Experience in military design and development for bid and proposal efforts
Experience in Cost Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
Knowledge of Agile development methods
Familiarity with thermal and structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) best practices (ANSYS)
Familiarity with Mechanical Computer Aided Design (CAD) best practices (SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
Proven experience interfacing with DoD customers and senior leadership with effective communication
Experience with ground/airborne communications systems, antenna design, and operation (VLF, HF, UHF, V/UHF, or EHF/SATCOM)
Background and/or knowledge in networking, high‑power constructs, and interface definition
