Part‑Time Mechanical Engineer – Principal Level
Enercon Services, Inc. invites experienced mechanical engineers to join as a Part‑Time Principal Mechanical Engineer. The role averages 30 hours or less per week and offers the flexibility to continue shaping innovative solutions while maintaining work‑life balance.
Overview Enercon seeks accomplished Principal Mechanical Engineers to bring their expertise to high‑impact projects across nuclear services and federal services. The role is flexible, part‑time, and ideal for seasoned professionals who wish to maintain a strong professional footprint.

Enercon Federal Services (EFS)
Responsibilities A typical day may include participation in a multi‑disciplinary engineering team for major projects such as cooling water systems (pumps, motors, control systems, piping, heat exchangers) for existing or new power plants. Other days you may lead simple design projects such as valve replacements or write engineering reports such as corrosion studies or pros and cons of different equipment. You will also:
Deliver high‑quality engineering documents that are accurate, error‑free and meet industry codes, standards and regulations.
Adhere to standards and develop engineering documents aligned with client, Enercon and regulatory requirements.
Stay up to date with industry codes, standards, safety culture principles and advanced design techniques tailored to the nuclear sector.
Commit to excellence by producing deliverables that meet stringent quality assurance standards and exceed client expectations.
Build lasting client relationships through clear communication and professional interactions.
Collaborate across disciplines to ensure designs are comprehensive and integrated.
Travel to plant sites, conduct on‑site walkdowns, evaluate plant structures, systems and components, and incorporate findings into project work.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent.
10 years of prior experience in nuclear or power generation design of mechanical systems.
Experience in one of the following industries: engineering/design services, power generation, nuclear power, heavy industrial (chemical or pulp & paper) and government (DOE) projects.
Preferred: Nuclear Engineering Change qualifications from any site that can be transferred.
Preferred: 10 CFR 50.59 Screen and/or Evaluation qualifications that can be transferred.
Experience with thermal‑hydraulic and design modification.
Demonstrated proficiency in preparation of mechanical calculations.
Proficient in Word and Excel.
Strong writing, presentation and communication skills.
Ability to be an individual contributor while working effectively in teams.
Preferred: Mentorship experience or desire to mentor early‑to‑mid‑career engineers.
Must be able to get badged at a nuclear facility.
Must be able to perform plant walkdowns.
Pay Range USD $90,000.00 – USD $177,450.00 / Yr.
