Capital Accounting Manager
to join our expanding team. This role will report directly to the SVP of Capital Projects and will play a key role in overseeing capital accounting operations across our national portfolio. This position will report to the corporate office in Chicago.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Capital Project Accounting team, ensuring productivity and accuracy
Maintain internal reporting schedules and oversee project data setup and budget tracking
Review and post journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications
Monitor monthly capex bank reconciliations and project cash flow
Prepare audit reports and present findings to leadership
Manage lender reporting and draw requests
Ensure proper documentation including lien waivers and invoice processing
Support forecasting, budget adjustments, and change orders
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in property or project management accounting
Strong understanding of US GAAP and organizational accounting concepts
Experience with budgets, contracts, and lien waivers
Proficiency in financial reporting software (Entrata preferred) and intermediate Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities
Proven leadership experience managing a team
