Senior Environmental Engineer
Job Description This position is for a Senior Environmental Engineer within our Water team to assist in the delivery of water treatment facilities of moderate to high complexity throughout the Southeast United States.
Responsibilities
Lead teams to design and deliver water treatment facilities and related water infrastructure, including process modeling through signing and sealing construction drawings as the engineer-of-record.
Possess alternative delivery experience such as progressive design-build.
Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign off on completed designs.
Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs; perform site reviews and studies as needed to align designs with location specifications; update design requirements as necessary; perform water quality analyses and modeling.
Contribute to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.; submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs); review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations, and best practices.
Proactively meet with current and potential future clients to review their design needs; attend conferences, symposia, etc., to improve the visibility of the firm’s products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff; act as a point of contact for external clients and related industry contacts.
Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to project management as necessary; perform other duties as required.
Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff; mentor junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
12 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required; the frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
