Purpose We are seeking a Director of AI & Automation to join the Finance Transformation team. The Director will drive AI & Automation programs across Finance, lead design and development of Proof of Concepts, support scaling initiatives, and set strategy that aligns with AbbVie's Enterprise vision.
Responsibilities
Define and drive a comprehensive data and AI strategy for the Finance function aligned with Finance and Enterprise goals.
Build and lead a Finance AI & Automation enablement team to support business users across Finance.
Use data architecture to identify, prioritize, and execute analytics initiatives with line of sight to enterprise strategies.
Create a multi-year roadmap for Finance data and AI capabilities, including investments in people, processes, and technology.
Collaborate with the Data Strategy team and other business system owners to rationalize the data environment into a scalable, central architecture.
Ensure strong governance frameworks that support centralized strategy and localized business unit needs.
Partner with Finance leaders across functions to identify and prioritize data- and AI-driven opportunities for value creation.
Lead creation of training and communications to support democratization of data, analytics, and GenAI capabilities.
Cultivate a high-performance, collaborative culture focused on innovation and measurable impact.
Mentor and develop talent to grow internal data and AI capabilities sustainably.
Build strong relationships across Finance, BTS and BU teams to ensure coordination and adoption.
Ensure AbbVie’s data is safe, secure, and compliant with global regulations and company standards.
The Ideal Candidate Will
Execute the Finance Automation & AI strategy and influence decision-makers while leading data change management across Finance.
Drive an effective data-driven culture that scales to meet the needs of all Finance functions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field.
Minimum 9+ years of progressive leadership experience with a recent focus on data and AI leadership.
Deep knowledge of data strategy, architecture, and operations with proven success delivering operational and financial value.
Strong financial acumen and familiarity with financial systems and processes.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and ability to influence senior executives.
Executive presence and ability to represent AbbVie Finance professionally.
Project management experience managing multiple simultaneous projects.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Strong analytical and process diagnostic skills.
Conflict resolution capabilities in a matrixed environment.
Balance long-term strategic vision with near-term delivery.
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $156,000 – $296,500 annually. Eligible for short-term and long-term incentive programs and comprehensive benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) plan.
